I’m in Austin at SXSW right now. I’m blogging it at HappyScout.com

Bridge Walk

This past Sunday, Scott and I joined a group of LA enthusiasts in a walk of the city’s downtown bridges, organized by Shannon of Sha in LA. A good time was had by all. My pix are up on Flickr.

#7. Virtually completed

Playing the fiddle some more at home in Second Life

Well, maybe it doesn’t count for “Take a violin lesson.” My avatar’s learning to play in Second Life, though. Good thing it doesn’t actually make any sounds. The neighbors would have me banned.

#100. The Great Wilshire Walk

The End

Originally uploaded by nightpost.

I’m making an exception - this is the only time I’ll do this - and adding something to the list after it’s been done. I’ve earned it, since it was quite an accomplishment (and I’m in a lot of pain).

Yesterday, a group organized by Franklin Avenue walked the entire length of Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, from Downtown LA to Santa Monica. Not for a cause, not for a protest… just for fun. In all, it was about 16 miles of walking, took from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, and totally rocked. We had a great group, and almost everyone made it the whole way. Go us!

With the blisters, cramping calf muscles, and sore ankle I had last night, it was to be expected that I would be a little sore today. That’s an understatement! At this point, I just hope that tomorrow isn’t *worse*… I have a feeling it will be. In the end, though, it was definitely worth it. Looking forward to the “2nd Annual…”

You can click the photo above to go to my Flickr Set. I also shot some video with my new (cheap) video camera, and I’ll see if I’ve got anything to upload later.

I’d also like to add my thanks to Mike & Maria for organizing the walk & for raffling off a couple of LA guides at the end (I won this one.).

Happy Halloween!

I’m not a fan of Halloween, but here’s a friggin’ amazing pumpkin carved by my pal Kolby. Awesome.

3 and 35 Baby Steps

Well, I took my beloved Powerbook down to the Apple store this week to have it diagnosed. One hour and several rounds of “is it making the noise yet?” later, I’ve determined that it just doesn’t want to get fixed. Of course the darn thing’s been making the noise ever since. The “genius” at the store pretty much confirmed that it’s not my hard drive dying a slow death, but more likely a fan or inverter acting up. So, I may not lose data, but I could melt my computer. Good times.

I also made a couple of baby steps this week in my quest to (a) pay down my debt and (b) go to New York for a couple of weeks (possibly longer). I took a new job starting this coming Monday, thus ending my vacation/whirlwind tour of my side projects. I also submitted an application to take over my friend Sara’s apartment, which will save me a significant amount of money every month. I can make headway on my debt and get even closer to the bicoastal lifestyle I’ve been working on.

Overall, a good week.

I Heart (Sleeping Late In) NY

I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted, but I’ve been busy, busy, busy. I was in Boston last week, visiting my mom, getting interviewed on DriveTime (episode’s not up yet), and seeing family. Now I’m in NY, working on a couple of the 101 things, and relaxing - something I don’t do too often when I’m home. I’ll share pictures and stories later in the week. Right now I’m going to take a nap.

What happens…

in Vegas, stays in Vegas (mostly because I’m too exhausted to write). We’ll return to our regularly scheduled programming shortly.
