101 List Changes
I’m making changes to the list. Here’s what’s coming, what’s going, and why I think I can get away with it…
- I’m removing #18. Learn Ruby on Rails, since I think PHP and Flash are enough coding/programming skills to master in the remaining time. I’m replacing this with something I’ve been thinking about quite a bit lately: Play tuba in a Dixieland jazz band. Anyone know of a jazz band in LA looking for a tuba?
- #52. Find a Buddhist teacher isn’t really an interest of mine now. I’m going to continue reading books about Buddhism, but I’m substituting Complete the Intro to Judaism course at the UJ.
- Since my old roommate no longer lives in LA, I’m deleting #67. Have lunch or dinner with my roommate. This spot’s now a Freebie.
- I ended my gym membership months ago, so #79. Go to the gym at least twice a week for a month is out. In its place, I’m adding Complete the Couch-to-5K Running Plan.
- After listening to Randy Newman’s “I Love LA,” I decided to add a new challenge to replace #86. Freebie, which is to Compile a list of 6 reasons the line “6th Street… We love it!” actually makes sense.
- I’m adding #99. Spend a weekend at Costanoa in place of a Freebie, because, well, just look at the web site.

Thanks for sending me that “Couch-to-5K Running Plan” about a month ago. On Sunday, I completed a 5-mile run in under an hour. It’s amazing: just a couple weeks ago, I was sore and winded after just a couple hundred yards!

Costanoa looks amazing. I’ll have to show the site to my girlfriend and maybe we’ll plan a trip up there sometime.

Kolby, I feel like such a slacker now. The whole time you’ve been doing the couch-to-5K, I’ve been trying to work up the motivation to start. You rock!
James, if you get to Costanoa before I do, let me know how it is.
