Some other things from this week

Here’s some other stuff:

  • I watched Woody Allen’s Stardust Memories while I was packing to move. Actually, I got bored with it and kind of tuned out the last 30 minutes or so.
  • My new room is waaayyyy smaller than my old room, and I don’t have a lot of other space in the house. I’m downsizing in a big way, but struggling with it, since I’m already at the point of using or loving everything I own. To help, I read Simplify Your Life and Living the Simple Life by Elaine St. James. Any other recommendations?
  • Tomorrow night I’m going to see a bunch of LA bloggers on stage in Subject Line Here. Should be fun!
  • This video is fascinating. I love innovative ways of teaching and sharing information, but I don’t think I’m alone in saying this has a strange hypnotic power. (Via Coudal)
  • Also via Coudal, an abandoned Russian sub station, or, what it would look like if Disney built CreepyLand.

it’s hard but basically, every time i move, i toss stuff. my guidelines:
1. if i forgot i owned it, i toss it (unless it is extremely valuble, financially or otherwise).
2. If it’s broken and can’t be fixed (cheaply or at all), I toss it.
3. If I haven’t used it in a year, I toss it (unless it’s a specialty item, like a glue gun or carpenter’s glue or something).
4. If it’s something I can access online, I toss it.

the only thing i haven’t been able to get rid of, though, are my books… i’m getting better at it, though.
