#15. Binary Arithmetic

Teaching Binary article

I moved last week, and it took several days to figure out the internet situation. At one point, I was driving back to the old apartment every time I needed to go online, which was a hassle. (It’s only a few blocks away, but still…). During that time, I spent a while clearing out some old articles in my “Read This” folder. One of those articles as a PDF of this page, describing an experiment with the Socratic Method, teaching kids binary arithmetic.

I have to admit, I partially understood the concept of binary arithmetic before I began, but didn’t quite “get it.” By the time I was finished reading, I (and the kids described in the experiment) totally got it. If you’re interested in learning binary arithmetic, or just want to see how easy it can be to teach complex subjects to kids, you might check out the article. I’m going to go check off #15.
