#88. My own public Idaho
Today was my first day off after starting the new job. No, they didn’t fire me… just rearranged my schedule. What did I do to celebrate freedom from the computer?
Work on my computer, of course.
Yesterday I installed OSX Tiger, since I’m going to need it to run Avid Xpress Pro on my system. Now I’m wishing I didn’t have to upgrade. I know there are probably benefits, but right now I’ve only got annoyances. The Spotlight keyboard shortcut is the same as my Quicksilver trigger. I know they have similar search functionality, but Spotlight can’t do everything Quicksilver does gracefully - including some common actions I rely on. If any Quicksilver users have upgraded to Tiger, I’d love to hear how you’re coping.
Plus, Mail has lost the contents of several email messages. Granted, they’re probably not important or they would have been dealt with by now, but I’d like to recover them. The message says I need to take the account online to download them, but my account’s already online. Aaagggghhhh!
As much as I love Mac, I’m heartbroken that I upgraded.
Oh, and the big news of this post? I finished item 88, and renovated my personal web site. It’s more about me than anyone but my mom would care to read. Enjoy!

You can reassign the quicksilver key in the quicksilver preferences. And you can reassign the spotlight key in the system preferences. Tiger is good in the long run.

Thanks for the suggestion! I don’t want to give up on Spotlight, but I need Quicksilver.

i heart quicksilver. my favorite feature of quicksilver is being able to type text directly into it, then save it or append it to textedit without having to actually open up text edit. the calculator feature is also pretty nifty, as well as the e-mail feature.

Oh how freaky! Just as I clicked on the link to this post, Indie 103.1 was playing “My Own Private Idaho” by the B-52s. Eeeeeek!
