I Don’t Like Mondays

Actually, I do. But, I’ve had the song by The Boomtown Rats stuck in my head all day, since I heard it on the radio this morning. I’ve got a whole lotta angst today, so I figured I’d better blog it now before I amass more links than Google.

  • ESPN’s not gonna carry NHL. Anyone got OLN so I can watch a few games? [Insert sound of crickets chirping here].
  • Lucky guy. Hunter S. Thompson’s remainswere exploded in a fireworks display yesterday, but apparently the scene was ruined by fans. Nice. How much will it cost for me to arrange a fireworks display of my ashes when I’m gone? Can I save money if they just pack me in with the local 4th of July displays?
  • This seems like a great way to improve traffic, save the environment, and make people happy. Too bad it’ll never happen here in LA. Besides, we’d have the system hacked within hours…
  • The new game Nintendogs gives me another thing to feel guilty about. I have this recurring nightmare that I own a dog, but have forgotten about it for several days, leaving it malnourished and near death. Now I can make that (virtual) reality. How fun.
  • In Arizona (and apparently, other states as well), one school district got rid of their textbooks and gave everyone iBooks. Since I’m a big believer in free knowledge for everyone - and the computers and wifi to share that freely - I think this program rocks! Plus, they’re using Macs… a wise decision for avoiding setup hassles and rampant viruses.
Now, hopefully, they’ll start taking advantage of WikiMedia, who says
Imagine a world in which every single person is given free access to the sum of all human knowledge. That’s what we’re doing.

By the way, WikiMedia’s holding a fundraiser to support their many projects, in case you’ve got any spare change.

  • Something happy, for once. The funniest thing I’ve read all day. Boy, do I love pirates.
